Even before getting pregnant, it is important to take vitamin and iron supplements, and folic acid in the prescribed doses. Folic acid helps prevent birth defects in the baby (spina bifida-spinal cord and neural tube deformities). Overdoses (Ex. Vitamin A) could harm the baby and cause birth defects.
Following a good diet and sticking to a regular exercise routine form a strong foundation for having a healthy baby.
